Do people like this make gun owners look bad? Did he have a right to pull a gun on the cop?
After recent reports on school shootings and random acts of violence, is there any wonder that a percentage of America want to ban guns?
The video featured on the page is a prime example of why some people want gun ownership restricted. The landowner in the video is clearly unstable and is unfit to own a firearm.
Sheriff Michael Hockett had responded to a call from the shooters father claiming his son was having a “mental health episode” so the Sheriff decided to arrive at the property and climb over the locked gate.
Video footage of the incident shows the Sherriff walking across the land and the owner driving up to the gate, returning from wherever he had been. The landowner then approached the police car and appears to be striking it with something. He then unlocks the gate and walks towards the property.
You then see the Sheriff running towards the gate and to his vehicle with the “mentally unstable” landowner running after him. There are shots fired back and forth and the Sherriff was shot a few times and the suspect was shot in the arm as you can clearly see.
The footage was captured on the Sheriffs dashcam which you can clearly so how mentally unstable this nutcase is.
The question is: Should this guy be able to own a firearm?
We think that people like this should be restricted and thorough checks in place in case they cause more harm to police and the public. We don’t think that guns should be completely banned from public ownership, just stringent checks should be in place to stop mentally ill people like this guy owning guns.
The Sheriff was treated for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and has been recovering in hospital.
